Burglaries in Mexico City: Security Figures That Raise Concern

Did you know that between 2013 and June 2016, a total of 96,197 burglaries involving homes, businesses, and offices were reported in Mexico City? Of these cases, 21,824 involved violence.

During this period, an average of 458 burglaries of this type occurred every day in Mexico City.

The boroughs with the highest number of preliminary investigations were:

• Miguel Hidalgo: 11,168
• Coyoacán: 12,262
• Benito Juárez: 12,848
• Gustavo A. Madero: 18,216
• Iztapalapa: 26,264
• Cuauhtémoc: 26,781

During those three years, some of the highest crime rates were recorded, creating serious concerns about the safety, peace of mind, and quality of life of Mexico City residents.

This situation led many people to seek alternative ways to protect their valuables.
